REWIND...
The last few months have been as hectic as the few months before that! and it looks like being that way for some time to come. In between shows we are constantly updating or creating new things whether it be in the studio, the office or the archives. There is enough to keep us going for another lifetime I'm sure!
The recent shows have all been wonderful experiences, meeting both old and new friends and fans and hearing their latest news or stories of yesteryear. It never ceases to amaze me how, no matter where we go, whether it be a big or small venue, that there is at least someone there with a touching personal story about how one of our early hits or shows made such an impact on them so many years ago. It seems so many people met, fell in love or got married to 'I found a new love', or the first record they ever bought was 'Ain't it so' or 'Starlight Starbright' or they first met me at 'Six O'Clock Rock' or at a Stadium Show.
And here we are, so many years later reliving those moments. It is such a nice part of doing the tours and shows today.

Some gift suggestions

IT'S AUTUMN ALREADY!!
Not much of a suntan this year what with all the rain we got over summer but it was very sad to hear about so many who suffered so much in the floods. Some may never get over the losses. We can only hope the insurance companies and the various levels of government, put aside their greed and corporate mentality and come down to a human level. Can you imagine what you'd feel if it was you in the same dilemma? I feel the pain just thinking of it. Anyway we send our love and best wishes to everyone who needs it.
Now back to the music industry. We unfortunately lost a few of our mates and peers over the last few months and some today are in a bad way. Late last year we lost Melbourne star Betty McQuade and this year Ian Turpie and Jimmy Little. Max Moore who worked with Lee Gordon and Alan Heffernan to give us the Stadium and Festival Hall Big Shows, also passed on. They will always be remembered for their talent and the joy they gave us.

Lonnie with Jimmy at the premiere of his TV documentary |
Our 2011 calendar was received well above our expectations and we will soon start on some changes for the 2013 version. If you have any suggestions please tell us about them here.
This year we will be visiting all states and The Leemen and I look forward to performing as well as meeting and talking with those who come to the shows. Our new show is called the 'Sold Gold Show’, and most of the songs definitely deserve that title.
I continue archiving and working towards keeping our era alive for the up and coming who want to know more about the times we keep telling them were the 'best'. We are getting more and more of them in the audiences who were either babes in arms or not even born when we were 'Rockin' the 50's and 60's'. It is really good to see it.
If you want more information please visit the lonnielee.com website. It is currently being updated and by mid year will have a lot of different information available. We are also on Facebook with well over 5000 friends so come by and say Hi and give us a 'Like'.
Thank you radio and press guys'n'gals for the continuing support, not just for me but all of us who were part of the our fantastic era.
Till we see you on the road..
Love... Lonnie

Johnny O'Keefe
The Facts Book
Australia's first Rock'n'Roll star was Johnny O'Keefe. His many hits and energetic stage performances are etched in legend. Much has been written about him mainly copied from newspaper stories and promo biographies except one written by Damian Johnstone which is now out of print. To fill the void, Lonnie has written his own account of who his friend Johnny O'Keefe was. 28 pages of story and photographs for those interested in our social history. - Written by Lonnie Lee

Six O'Clock Rock
The Facts Book
Six O'Clock Rock was the first full-on live to-air national Rock'n'Roll TV program. Every Saturday night at 6pm from 1959 to 1962, for an hour parents would batten down the hatches as Johnny O'Keefe, Lonnie Lee and many other stars introduced the new Rock'n'Roll music to Australians. This book is the only one which documents that show, its costs, who was on it and when and many other snippets of information all lovers of Aussie Rock would love to know.

Behind the Rock
and Beyond Book
In 1990 Time Life published a book called 'Behind the Rock' about many of the antics the authors and their friends got up to off the stage during the 1960's early Rock'n'Roll era. The book was a best seller and ever since, author Leon Isackson has been compiling an updated version taking the stories up to the 1980s. There are nearly 500 pages crammed with stories sure to amaze the reader.

The Living Legends
of Six O'Clock Rock CD
Most of the major stars of TV's Six O'Clock Rock had hit records which they performed many times on the show. This album was recorded in the 1980's due to their continued popularity and the fact that none of those songs were any longer available. Produced by Lonnie with a great rock orchestra, you can hear Lucky Starr, Jay Justin, Johnny Devlin, Warren Williams, Noelene Batley, Roland Storm, The Flanagans, The DeKroo Bros, Adam, Barry Stanton, Alan Dale and Lonnie, sing their hits like never before. The songs are presented just as the originals were and will surely bring back many memories. This is also still available as a vinyl album with a double fold cover.

Back from the Brink
Peter Andrews Book
Australia's landscape has been raped and pillaged ever since European settlement. Many farming practices have ruined our rivers, creeks and land. Much of this still goes on, perpetuated by laws put in place years ago but still vigorously enforced. Over 30 years Lonnie's cousin, horse breeder Peter Andrews has experimented on his property in Bylong and has found natural ways to repair much of the mess. His practice is called Natural Sequence Farming, and many farmers including Gerry Harvey have implemented his theories. In the early 1990's Lonnie helped Peter set up the first NSF scientific trial and still today oversees the NSF web sites and forums. |

Beyond the Brink
Peter Andrews Book
ABC TV's 'Australian Story' have featured Peter on 4 different occasions, more than any other person. Due to his immense popularity among the farming community and the success of his first Best Seller book, he has written this as a follow up and like the first one, points the way to a better Australian landscape for everyone. His theories are being proven every day with scientists all over the world singing his praises. Unfortunately this does not translate to governments and bureaucrats making changes to their policies. Both books make a great read to understand where we went wrong and how to make the fix. |
